Old Red Courthouse in Dallas, Texas. CMR Construction and Roofing project.

CMR Is A Leader In Specialty Roofing

Specialty roofing is a term used to describe the practice of roofing using alternative or unique materials, such as copper, tile, slate, or cedar. Property owners often ask for specialty roofing when they desire a distinctive look or when their property is historic and requires materials and roofing techniques that are not commonly used today.

CMR Construction & Roofing is a national leader in specialty roofing because we have the necessary skill and experience to complete highly complex and innovative roofing projects. We have been in the specialty roofing business for over 20 years, and our team has a proven track record of success. We have built many award-winning roofs and have rehabilitated iconic buildings all across the country. We invite you to take a look at some of our recent accomplishments in the video below.

Specialty Roofing Projects:

Miami University-Oxford Health Science Facility

CMR was selected to install the roof on the newly remodeled Miami University-Oxford Health Science Facility in Ohio. The Health Science building totals 170,000 square feet and features both pitched and flat roof sections. We installed Ludowici clay tile and copper on the pitched sections of the roof and TPO on the flat sections.

Ludowici clay tile is a specialty roofing material that is known for its longevity and durability. When installed correctly, Ludowici clay tile roofs can last for up to a century. However, very few roofing companies have the experience and expertise to install clay tile properly. Property owners turn to CMR when they want to make sure their clay tile roof is installed to the highest standards and will stand the test of time.

Rush County Courthouse

CMR was brought on to replace the roof of the historic Rush County Courthouse in Rushville, Indiana. The Rush County Courthouse was originally constructed in 1896 and continues to be a source of pride for the community. Unfortunately, the existing roof had developed several leaks and needed to be completely replaced.

CMR stepped in to repair the damage and complete the installation of a new roof that is both structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing. Because the Rush County Courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, efforts were made to replicate the original roof as closely as possible. The new roof is beautiful and a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of our roofing experts. It features French-style terracotta clay tiles and copper flashings.

Old Red Courthouse

The Old Red Courthouse in Dallas, Texas, is an iconic landmark. It is both culturally and historically significant. As a result, our team felt a strong sense of duty to ensure that the new roof captured the intricate details and craftsmanship of the original.

In order to replicate the original roof, we used slate tiles and copper flashings and gutters. The original slate roof included intricate patterns that required our team to separate and blend multiple slate palettes to achieve the intended look. And the unique shape of the turrets required our crew to custom-cut each tile before installation.
